Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), as a member of the World Technology Universities Network (WTUN), participated in the 10th World Technology Universities Congress (WTUC 2025) hosted by Thaksin University on October 20-22, 2025, in Songkhla, Thailand. Dr. Wipawee Usaha, Director, and Dr. Tapany Patcharawit, Deputy Director of the Center for International Affairs, along with three SUT representatives, joined global technology-focused universities to explore higher education’s role in creating impact from local to global. Under the theme “The Glocalization: Functional Role of Higher Education from Local to Global,” WTUC 2025 featured plenary sessions, spotlight talks, and parallel sessions addressing innovation, collaboration, and societal transformation, with SUT presenting four significant contributions across various thematic areas.

SUT’s presentations showcased the university’s commitment to glocalization through diverse initiatives: Dr. Mullika Sungsanit, Head of Center of Excellence for Entrepreneurship, presented “Reviving Heritage, Empowering Communities: Muay Korat as a Catalyst for Glocal Social Innovation” in the Social Innovation plenary session; Dr. Sirilak Chumkiew from the School of Biology presented on digital knowledge transfer for sustainable ecotourism in Smart Trail, Khao Yai National Park; a presentation on instructional strategies and learning enhancement in the era of student reliance on AI; and Dr. Vorasiri de Cadenet, Head of Greenhouse Gas Management Unit, discussed the role of SUT-FTI Nakhon Ratchasima partnerships in accelerating Korat’s carbon neutrality pathway. SUT’s active participation in WTUC 2025 reinforces its international visibility and demonstrates its commitment to addressing global challenges through localized solutions and collaborative research networks.
