Dr. Tanongsak Yingnakorn of the School of Metallurgical Engineering, Institute of Engineering, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), completed a two-month research secondment at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway, from 15 August to 14 October 2026. The secondment took place under SUSHEAS, a project funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Staff Exchanges programme.
SUSHEAS—Sustainable Production of High Entropy Alloys from Secondary Metals—aims to develop sustainable routes for producing high-entropy alloys using recovered and recycled metals. Coordinated by Bursa Technical University, Türkiye, the project brings together academic and industrial partners. SUT participates as an associated partner in Thailand, contributing expertise in the hydrometallurgical recovery of metals from industrial waste.
During the secondment, Dr. Yingnakorn undertook computational thermodynamics training using FactSage and delivered a presentation entitled “Hydrometallurgical Recovery of Metals from Industrial Waste.” He also participated in laboratory demonstrations, visited advanced research facilities at NTNU, and joined project progress meetings and technical discussions on secondary metal processing and alloy design.
The secondment strengthened his capabilities in alloy design and advanced materials characterisation while deepening collaboration with NTNU and other project partners. Joint publications and further staff exchanges are under preparation, with plans to incorporate the methods into graduate teaching and research supervision at SUT.
