On November 14, 2025, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) welcomed a delegation from the Institute of Radiation Emergency Medicine, Hirosaki University, Japan, for the Signing Ceremony of the General Agreement of Cooperation between the two institutions. The event took place at the Saranites Meeting Room of the Administrative Building and marked an important step toward enhancing academic collaboration in the fields of radiation science, engineering, and public health preparedness.
The delegation from Hirosaki University was led by Prof. Dr. Shinji Tokonami, Director of the Institute of Radiation Emergency Medicine. He was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Itaki Chieko, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chutima Kranrod, Ms. Hiromi Torigata, Office Leader; Mr. Yuto Hosoda, Administrative Staff; and Ms. Yuna Sakai, Student.
Representing SUT were key members of the university’s leadership and academic units, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornsiri Jongkol, Acting Rector and Dean of the Institute of Engineering; Asst. Prof. Dr. Wipawee Usaha, Director of the Center for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krajang Talabnin, Deputy Director of the Institute of Research and Development; Asst. Prof. Chinorat Kobdaj, Head of the Boron Neutron Capture Therapy Research Center; Asst. Prof. Dr. Aroonsri Nuchitprasittichai, Head of the Office of Global Engagement, Institute of Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jiratchaya Ayawanna, Head of the School of Ceramic Engineering; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Soodkhet Pojprapai, Lecturer of the School of Ceramic Engineering.
The ceremony began with a welcome address by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pornsiri Jongkol, who expressed SUT’s honor in hosting the delegation and emphasized the significance of this partnership. She highlighted the Institute of Radiation Emergency Medicine’s international reputation for excellence in radiation science and public health readiness and noted the potential for impactful cooperation through joint research, academic exchanges, and capacity-building activities.
The signing of the General Agreement of Cooperation formalizes the shared commitment of SUT and Hirosaki University to advance scientific collaboration, promote innovation, and create academic opportunities beneficial to both institutions. Following the signing, both parties engaged in discussions on future initiatives and areas of mutual interest.
