
June 2–6, 2025 – Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) participated in an academic mission to Taiwan, organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, with the aim of strengthening educational cooperation and exploring opportunities for enhanced academic collaboration.
SUT was led by Associate Professor Dr. Anan Tongraar, Rector, along with Dr. Mullika Sungsanit, Vice Rector for Engagement, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship; Assistant Professor Dr. Wipawee Usaha, Director of the Center for International Affairs; Associate Professor Dr. Pornsiri Jongkol, Dean of the Institute of Engineering; and Associate Professor Dr. Thara Angskun, Dean of the Institute of Digital Arts and Science.

The five-day visit provided SUT representatives with extensive exposure to Taiwan’s leading educational institutions and their innovative programs. The delegation visited multiple prestigious universities including National Taipei University of Technology, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology, National Sun Yat Sen University, Kaohsiung Medical University, I-Shou University, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, National Cheng Kung University, and Yuan Ze University.
The mission encompassed various academic disciplines with particular emphasis on engineering, technology, and medical education. Notable highlights included visits to advanced facilities such as semiconductor engineering laboratories, 3D digital circuit board design centers, 5G mobile communication testing facilities, biomedical engineering departments, medical device innovation centers, and digital content technology centers. The delegation also explored intensive programs and special Thai student initiatives currently operating at several Taiwanese institutions.

This educational mission represents a significant milestone in Thailand-Taiwan academic cooperation. The comprehensive tour provided valuable insights into innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge research facilities, and successful international collaboration models. The visit included a formal lunch banquet hosted by Director General Dr. Joyce Lee from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, highlighting the official nature of this partnership initiative. The mission focused on identifying collaborative opportunities in research, student exchange programs, joint academic initiatives, and technology transfer that will benefit both nations’ educational advancement. The extensive facility tours and academic discussions are expected to lead to concrete partnerships that will enhance SUT’s international programs and provide new opportunities for Thai students and faculty.
