Associate Professor Dr. Weerapong Pairsuwan, the Rector of Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), together with the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalisation, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Engineering, and the Director of the Center for International Affairs (CIA), attended the Japan Association for Global Competency Education (JAGCE) Convention at Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT).
JAGCE was founded in 2013. Its objective is to enhance competency of students so that they can be adapted for rapidly globalising world. The activities for JAGCE focus on developing global human resources with an emphasis on diversity, providing networking opportunities of that will be of great significance, and fostering collaboration among those in the industrial sector, academia, and government.
Today’s symposium aims for Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration for Human Resource Development.
As a GTI (Global Technology Initiative) Consortium advisory member, the Rector was invited to give a lecture entitled “Internationalisation at SUT” as an opening for the Globalisation Session chaired by Prof. Masahiro Inoue (Vice President of SIT). The Rector’s presentation was followed by 3 other talks by leading delegates from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Associate Professor Dr. Weerapong Pairsuwan, the Rector of Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), together with the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Engineering, and the Director of the Center for International Affairs (CIA), attended the Global Technology Initiative (GTI) Consortium Symposium 2019 and had a meeting with the President of Shibaura Institute of Technology (Prof. Masato Murakami). The symposium aims for Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration for Human Resource Development.
The discussion focused on the Global Programs, and Innovative Global Program at SIT for undergraduate and postgraduate levels to increase the percentage of inbound/outbound students. The innovative Global Program is an honor’s program with an emphasis on research-based learning. The main core is studying the courses in English, laboratory research-based learning, and interdisciplinary learning approach. ในการนี้ มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารีในฐานะภาคีสมาชิก ได้ส่งนักศึกษาสำนักวิชาวิศวกรรมศาสตร์เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมต่างๆ ของ GTI Consortium โดยส่งนักศึกษาเข้าร่วมกิจกรรม Global Project-Based-Learning (gPBL) 2019 จำนวน 5 คน ได้แก่
