On Wednesday 24th January 2018, Associate Professor Dr. Weerapong Pairsuwan, the Rector of Suranaree University of Technology and Phraprommangalachan, the Chairman of the Maritime Confucius Institute, together with the administrators of both institutes visited and attended an MOU signing ceremony at Fuzhou University, the People’s Republic of China.
The agreement with Fuzhou University is a result of the agreement that Suranaree University of Technology have had with the Maritime Confucius Institute. More importantly, it is to pushand respond to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) policy of the Thai Government as well as the One Belt One Road policy of the Chinese Government.
This MOU between the two universities will focus on developing a curriculum in five areas, which are: (1) Energy Technology, (2) Logistics and Transportation, (3) Civil Engineering, (4) Technology in Tourism and (5) Information Technology. These five fields directly meet the curriculum development policy of Thailand’s Ministry of Education.
The two universities have also agreed to develop students of Suranaree University of Technology for the Chinese companies in the Eastern Economic Corridor. In other words, Suranaree University of Technology and Fuzhou University will together meet Chinese investors to find out what they require so that we can produce graduates who will be suitable and ready to work at those Chinese companies straight away.
In addition, both universities discussed the possibility of developing dual-degree curricula where students will study basic technology, engineering and sciences at Suranaree University of Technology for two years. They will then spend two to three years at Fuzhou University. At the end, they will obtain a degree from both universities.
The agreement between Suranaree University of Technology and Fuzhou University has a clear objective in fulfilling the Eastern Economic Corridor policy. This MOU can be claimed to the first of its kind in Thailand.
วันพุธที่ 24 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2561 รองศาสตราจารย์ ดร.วีระพงษ์ แพสุวรรณ อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี และ พระพรหมมังคลาจารย์ ประธานคณะกรรมการสถาบันขงจื่อเส้นทางสายไหมทางทะเล พร้อมด้วยผู้บริหารมหาวิทยาลัยฯ และสถาบันขงจื่อฯ ได้เข้าเยี่ยมชมและลงนามความร่วมมือกับมหาวิทยาลัยฝู่โจว (Fuzhou University)
ความร่วมมือกับมหาวิทยาลัยฝู่โจวนั้น เป็นผลสืบเนื่องมาจากการที่มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารีได้มีความร่วมมือกับสถาบันขงจื่อเส้นทางสายไหมทางทะเล และที่สำคัญ การลงนามความร่วมมือระหว่างสองมหาวิทยาลัยในครั้งนี้ เพื่อเป็นการการผลักดันและการตอบสนองนโยบายระเบียงเศรษฐกิจภาคตะวันออก หรือ Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) ของรัฐบาล รวมถึงนโยบาย One Belt One Road ของรัฐบาลจีนด้วย
การร่วมมือกันระหว่างสองมหาวิทยาลัยในครั้งนี้ จะเน้นเรื่องการพัฒนาหลักสูตรใน 5 สาขาวิชาก่อน ได้แก่ (1) เทคโนโลยีพลังงาน (2) การคมนาคม (3) วิศวกรรมโยธา (4) เทคโนโลยีการท่องเที่ยว และ (5) เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ ซึ่งทั้ง 5 สาขาวิชานี้จะเป็นการตอบสนองนโยบายการพัฒนาหลักสูตรของกระทรวงศึกษาธิการโดยตรง
การเจรจาความร่วมมือยังมีการตกลงกันในเรื่องของการพัฒนานักศึกษาของมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี เพื่อบริษัทจีนที่เข้ามาลงทุนในระเบียงเศรษฐกิจภาคตะวันออก กล่าวคือ มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารีและมหาวิทยาลัยฝูโจว จะร่วมกันหารือกับนักลงทุนและบริษัทจากประเทศจีนว่ามีความต้องการอย่างไร เพื่อที่จะสามารถปรับปรุงหลักสูตรและผลิตบัณฑิตให้ตรงกับความต้องการ และจะทำให้นักศึกษาที่จบการศึกษาจะมีงานทำและสามารถทำงานได้ในบริษัทเหล่านั้นทันที
นอกจากนั้น ในการลงนามความร่วมมือระหว่างสองมหาวิทยาลัยยังได้พูดถึงความเป็นไปได้ในการจัดทำหลักสูตรระดับปริญญาตรี โดยให้นักศึกษาได้เรียนพื้นฐานเทคโนโลยี วิศวกรรมศาสตร์ และวิทยาศาสตร์ที่มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารีเป็นเวลาสองปี ก่อนที่จะไปศึกษาต่อ ณ มหาวิทยาลัยฝูโจว และเมื่อจบการศึกษาจะได้รับปริญญาบัตรจากทั้งสองสถาบัน
ความร่วมมือระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารีกับมหาวิทยาลัยฝูโจว มีเป้าหมายในการดำเนินการที่ชัดเจนในการตอบสนองนโยบายระเบียงเศรษฐกิจภาคตะวันออกอย่างชัดเจน และถือว่าเป็นต้นแบบของความร่วมมือในลักษณะนี้ในประเทศไทยอีกด้วย
