Center fo International Affairs (CIA), Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) will host Mr. Derek Lemieux, Executive Director of Global Partnerships from the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), Canada, on August 22, 2025, to explore research and innovation collaborations in engineering disciplines.
The meeting will take place at Meeting Room 5, C1 Building, with participation from key SUT faculty including Associate Professor Dr. Pornsiri Jongkol, Dean of the Institute of Engineering, and Assistant Professor Dr. Wipawee Usaha, Director of the Center for International Affairs.
The visit aims to identify opportunities between SUT and BCIT in mechanical, aeronautical, civil, and electrical engineering through staff and student mobility programs and cooperative education. The collaboration will leverage the SEED funding program and the existing MoU between the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) and Mitacs.
Representatives from SUT’s engineering schools and the Center of Excellence for Innovative Construction Materials and Green Building Technologies (SIECON) will participate in discussions. The program includes laboratory visits to drone workshops and SIECON facilities.
The partnership represents a significant step toward strengthening educational and research ties between Thailand and Canada, enhancing opportunities for international collaboration in engineering education and innovation.
