Songkran, often dubbed the “Water Festival,” is a beloved Thai celebration that marks the beginning of the traditional Thai New Year. This vibrant festival is renowned for its lively water fights, where people joyfully splash water on one another, symbolizing the cleansing of the past year and the arrival of a fresh start.

During the Songkran Holiday Host activity, SUT students and staff had the privilege of being hosted by local families who graciously opened their doors to share the festive spirit and traditions of Songkran. Participants not only had the chance to immerse themselves in Thai customs but also forge meaningful connections and create lasting memories with their gracious hosts.

The event was a resounding success, with international students gaining valuable insights into Thai culture, traditions, and hospitality. From learning how to make traditional Thai dishes to engaging in friendly water battles, the exchange of cultures and experiences brought everyone closer together, creating a sense of unity and appreciation for diversity within the SUT community.
