On January 29, 2024, Suranaree University of Technology in collaboration with SEAMEO SEPS, held the opening session for the 2024 Southeast Asian Youth Camp on Sustainable Development Goals at SUT during January 29 – February 2, 2024. For this Youth Camp, 56 participants from 11 schools, representing SEAMEO-SEPS member countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam, consist of 44 students and 12 teachers.
Vice Rector for Engagement, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Mullika Sungsanit gave a warm welcome to all participants on behalf of SUT. Afterwards, the opening session was given by Ms. Duriya Amatavivat, the Centre Director of SEAMEO SEPS, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Sustainability. Honored in attendance by representatives from the province, such as the Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Administrative Organization, the Provincial Education Office, SUT executives, and local school directors, the camp then kicked off with a plenary talk with Jennifer Innes-Taylor from Udon Organic Farm to spark youth as changemakers on “Youth for SEP: Igniting Change, Sustaining the Planet,” followed by a moving session on “ Youth as Changemakers: SEP, SDG and Sustainability” by Ms. Methawee Thatsanasateankit, Founder/CEO of Vulcan Coalition and network of School of Changemakers. The opening session was complete with shared stories of “Thailand’s Sustainable Story by Entrepreneurs: The Power of Change” by Mr.Pruitti Kerdchoochuan, MD/owner/founder of Dairy Home and Ms. Panchana Watasathien President of Khao Yai Tourism Association, owner/founder of Pen Laos Restaurant.
The camp aims to instill the principles of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among youth from SEAMEO Member Countries. Championed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the SEP integrates seamlessly into the Thai basic education curriculum, equipping learners with skills for sustainable development. Recognizing the significance of transmitting these principles, SEAMEO SEPS leads the 2024 Southeast Asian Youth Camp on Sustainable Development Goals.
The camp, run by SUT’s Student Entrepreneurship Development Academy (SEDA) and the Center for International Affairs, employs a design thinking approach. This approach emphasizes empathy, creative problem-solving, and collaboration. Students will visit Meechai Bamboo School and Otto Farm Studio, and engage in creative activities during the field trip.
The camp objectives are to foster a deep understanding of SEP and SDGs among participants and educators, inspire youth to integrate SEP into school routines and teaching methodologies, cultivate human-centered problem-solving skills within the context of SEP and SDGs, facilitate networking for youth, fostering connections and collaborations, establish a committed network of schools embracing SEP and SDGs, fostering knowledge-sharing platforms.
Recognizing the importance of cultural competency in education and career advancement, student participants from SEAMEO will receive a transcript for the course Social Innovation Development from SUT at the end of the activity series. This recognition is designed to fortify their global portfolio and highlight their organizational skills. Teachers, too, will gain valuable insights into conducting design thinking workshops and coaching sessions within the context of social innovation development, applicable to their schools in their home countries. It is hoped that this camp will not only inspire change-makers in their communities but also empower teachers to continue fostering youth changemakers across the region.

เมื่อวันที่ 29 มกราคม 2567 มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี ร่วมกับ ศูนย์ระดับภูมิภาคว่าด้วยปรัชญาของเศรษฐกิจพอเพียงเพื่อความยั่งยืนของซีมีโอ หรือ SEAMEO SEPS เป็นเจ้าภาพในการเปิดค่ายเยาวชนเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ว่าด้วยเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน ประจําปี 2567 (The 2024 Southeast Asian Youth Camp on Sustainable Development Goals) โดยผู้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมค่ายครั้งนี้ มีนักเรียนมัธยม 44 คนและครู 12 คน รวมจำนวน 56 คน จาก 11 โรงเรียนจาก 9 ประเทศสมาชิก SEAMEO ได้แก่ บรูไนดารุสซาลาม กัมพูชา สปป.ลาว มาเลเซีย ฟิลิปปินส์ สิงคโปร์ ไทย ติมอร์-เลสเต และเวียดนาม ทั้งนี้ ดร. มัลลิกา สังข์สนิท รองอธิการบดี ฝ่ายพันธกิจสันพันธ์ นวัตกรรม และความเป็นผู้ประกอบการ ให้การต้อนรับผู้เข้าร่วมงานอย่างอบอุ่น ตามด้วยการกล่าวเปิดโดย คุณดุริยา อมตวิวัฒน์ ผู้อํานวยการศูนย์ SEAMEO-SEPS ทั้งนี้ ยังมีผู้ให้เกียรติเข้าร่วมในงานพิธีเปิดดังกล่าวด้วย อาทิ เช่น ดร.ธนากร ประพฤทธิพงษ์ เลขานุการองค์การบริหารส่วนจังหวัดนครราชสีมา ดร. กฤตพล ชุติกุลกีรติ จากสํานักงานศึกษาธิการจังหวัดนครราชสีมา ผศ. ดร.ปัญญา บัวฮมบุรา ผู้ช่วยอธิการบดีฝ่ายวิชาการและประกันคุณภาพ ผศ. ดร.เกียรติศักดิ์ บัตรสูงเนิน ผู้ช่วยอธิการบดีฝ่ายพัฒนานักศึกษาและศิษย์เก่าสัมพันธ์ ผศ.ดร.สารัมภ์ บุญมี ผู้อํานวยการโรงเรียนสุรวิวัฒน์ นางนัทภา วรรณประพันธ์ ผู้อำนวยการสถานศึกษาโรงเรียนเตรียมอุดมศึกษาน้อมเกล้า นครราชสีมา และผู้แทนผู้อำนวยการโรงเรียนประทาย ด้วย
ทั้งนี้ ในพิธีเปิดค่ายดังกล่าว ยังได้จัดให้มีการบรรยายสร้างแรงบันดาลใจโดย คุณ Jennifer Innes-Taylor จาก Udon Organic Farm และ คุณ เมธาวี ทัศนาเสถียรกิจ ผู้ก่อตั้งบริษัท Vulcan Coalition ธุรกิจเพื่อสังคม ซึ่งจุดประกายและสร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้เยาวชนเป็นผู้สร้างการเปลี่ยนแปลงด้านความยั่งยืน และการเสวนาถ่ายทอดเล่าประสบการณ์จากผู้ประกอบการอย่างยั่งยืนที่ประสบความสําเร็จในประเทศไทย โดย คุณพฤฒิ เกิดชูชื่น กรรมการผู้จัดการ/เจ้าของ/ผู้ก่อตั้ง บริษัท แดรี่โฮม วิสาหกิจเพื่อสังคม และ คุณพันชนะ วัฒนเสถียร นายกสมาคมการท่องเที่ยวเขาใหญ่ และเจ้าของ/ผู้ก่อตั้ง ร้านเป็นลาว
ค่ายนี้ จัดขึ้นโดยสถานพัฒนาความเป็นผู้ประกอบการ (SEDA) และศูนย์กิจการนานาชาติ มทส ระหว่างวันที่ 29 มกราคม ถึงวันที่ 2 กุมภาพันธ์ 2567 มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อน้อมนำหลักปรัชญาเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง (SEP) ของในหลวงรัชกาลที่ 9 และการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน SDGs ของสหประชาชาติมาปลูกฝังและเผยแพร่แก่เยาวชนในภูมิภาคประเทศสมาชิก SEAMEO ผ่านกระบวนการเรียนรู้ Design Thinking และการเรียนรูแบบประสบการณ์จริง โดยส่งเสริมการประยุกต์ใช้ให้เกิดประโยชน์ในบริบทของประเทศในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ SEAMEO การแลกเปลี่ยนแนวปฏิบัติและองค์ความรู้ ระหว่างโรงเรียนในภูมิภาค อันจะนำไปสู่การบรรลุซึ่งผลประโยชน์ร่วมกันของภูมิภาค และเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนแห่งสหประชาชาติ
นักเรียนผู้เข้าร่วมค่ายในครั้งนี้ จะได้รับประสบการณ์ และทักษะทำงานกับความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรม (Multicultural Competency) และยังได้เรียนรู้ในรายวิชา การพัฒนานวัตกรรมทางสังคม (Social Innovation Development Course) ของ มทส ร่วมกันหลายประเทศ ซึ่งจะช่วยสร้างการความเข้าใจด้านการพัฒนาทางสังคม และเสริมสร้าง global portfolio แก่นักเรียนที่เข้าร่วม อีกทั้ง ครูจากโรงเรียนต่างๆ จะได้รับข้อมูลและแนวปฏิบัติในการดําเนินกิจกรรม การเรียนการสอนแบบ design thinking ซึ่งสามารถนําไปประยุกต์ใช้ในบริบทโรงเรียนที่ประเทศของตนเพื่อสร้าง youth changemaker ในภูมิภาคต่อไป
