SUT Representatives Join SATU Presidents’ Forum 2025 in Taiwan, March 12-13, 2025

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) participated in the Southeast and South Asia and Taiwan University (SATU) Presidents’ Forum 2025, held at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Tainan, Taiwan on March 12-13, 2025.

  • Dr. Tapany Patcharawit, Deputy Director of the Center for International Affairs (CIA)

Forum Highlights

The event brought together 72 distinguished university leaders and academic experts from 60 Southeast and South Asia university members under the theme “Sustainable Governance for University”.

The forum was chaired by Prof. Meng-Ru Shen, President of National Cheng Kung University, whose welcome remarks emphasized the shared mission and responsibility for higher education in the region.

Key Developments

During the forum, Prof. Hong-Chen Chen, Secretary General of SATU Presidents’ Forum, announced the new Steering Committee (2025-2026) and the approval of the SATU Constitution. These developments led to the appointment of Prof. Muthamizhchelvan Chellamuthu, Vice Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology of India, as the new Chair of SATU Presidents’ Forum.

The forum featured several notable presentations:

  • Prof. Hsiao-Wen Wang from NCKU’s Department of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering delivered a talk on “The Role of Universities in Shaping the Sustainable Features: Insights from NCKU”
  • Prof. S. Felix Wu, Dean of College of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, spoke on “Digital Transformation: Ethno-onto Innovation Conceptualization University Campus”
  • Prof. Ping-Sheng Wu, Senior Vice President, discussed “Museums as Drivers of Cultural Heritage Sustainability”

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

SUT delegates were warmly welcomed by Prof. Fong-Chin Su, Executive Director of Taiwan-Thailand Science and Technology Center (TTSTC), who hosted a special dinner to share valuable experiences and collaboration insights.
