Applications are now invited for the Ernst Mach Grant – ASEA-UNINET 2027/2028, offering eligible applicants opportunities to pursue doctoral studies, conduct postdoctoral research, or undertake advanced music training at higher education institutions in Austria.
Three categories of grants are available:
1. Full PhD Grant
The Full PhD Grant supports eligible postgraduate applicants wishing to pursue a full doctoral degree programme in Austria. The grant is awarded for a period of 36 months.
Applications will be accepted from 15 September 2026 until 1 March 2027 at 23:59 CET.
2. Postdoc Grant
The Postdoc Grant supports postdoctoral research in Austria for a period of four to six months. It is open to teaching and research staff from ASEA-UNINET member universities and candidate member institutions.
Applications will be accepted from 15 September 2026 until 1 March 2027 at 23:59 CET.
3. Music Practice Grant
The Music Practice Grant offers nine months of advanced training in instrumental or vocal performance, composition, or conducting. It is intended for applicants who are currently pursuing or have completed at least a bachelor’s degree in music performance or a related field.
Applications will be accepted from 15 September until 15 December 2026 at 23:59 CET.
Depending on the grant category and applicable conditions, scholarship benefits may include a monthly allowance, a travel cost subsidy, and an additional accommodation subsidy for Full PhD grantees. As the benefits and requirements vary by grant category, prospective applicants are strongly advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria, required documents, application procedures, and terms and conditions before applying.
