On August 10, 2023, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) and the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on sustainable conservation of indigenous animal genetic resources. The collaboration aims to develop strategies for conserving and utilizing the sustainable benefits of genetic diversity between the two countries, focusing on the conservation and development of Thai indigenous chickens into Korat chickens for community utilization. SUT serves as a model for working together, including jointly developing human resources with knowledge and understanding of the science and art of conservation, which is a challenge in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
In this event, Associate Professor Dr. Anan Tongraar, Rector, Professor Dr. Neung Teaumroong, Vice Rector for Research and Technology Development, and Assistant Professor Dr. Amornrat Moli, Head of the Center of Excellence in Technology and Innovation for Korat Chicken Business Development, along with SUT executives and researchers, Dr. Chay Bounphanouxay, the Director of NAFRI, and the NAFRI team, as well as Mr. Phancha Watthanasthian, the President of the Kaoyai Tourism Association, participated in the ceremony at the Conference Room of the Administration Building,
เมื่อวันที่ 10 สิงหาคม 2566 มหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี (มทส.) และ สถาบันค้นคว้าการเกษตร ป่าไม้ และพัฒนาชนบทแห่งชาติ หรือ NAFRI (National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute) กระทรวงเกษตรกรรมและป่าไม้ สาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาว (สปป.ลาว) ได้ลงนามบันทึกข้อตกลงความร่วมมือด้านการวิจัยเพื่อการพัฒนา มุ่งเน้นสร้างกลยุทธ์ในการอนุรักษ์และพัฒนาสู่การใช้ประโยชน์จากความหลากหลายของพันธุกรรมอย่างยั่งยืนระหว่าง 2 ประเทศ โดยใช้แนวทางการอนุรักษ์และพัฒนาไก่พื้นเมืองไทยสู่การเป็นไก่โคราชเพื่อให้ชุมชนได้ใช้ประโยชน์ ของศูนย์ความเป็นเลิศด้านเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมเพื่อการพัฒนาธุรกิจไก่โคราช มทส. เป็นต้นแบบในการทำงานร่วมกัน รวมถึงร่วมกันพัฒนาทรัพยากรมนุษย์ให้มีความรู้ความเข้าใจในศาสตร์และศิลป์ของการอนุรักษ์ อันเป็นความท้าทายตามเป้าหมายของการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน (Sustainable Development Goals; SDGs) ขององค์การสหประชาชาติ
