
Driving sustainability from policy to practice, Suranaree University of Technology welcomed international leaders in climate and sustainability to forge high-impact strategic collaboration. This partnership aims to align university initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), strengthen regional cooperation, and enhance SUT’s global visibility. A new chapter of international engagement begins.
On 20 February 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Sitthichai Saengarthit, Acting Rector of Suranaree University of Technology (SUT), welcomed Mr. Petch Prabhakittikul, Director of Climate and Sustainability, AFMA and STNSM.org, an intergovernmental organization established by UNESCAP and FAO, to discuss strategic collaboration initiatives. The meeting focused on advancing joint projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthening international cooperation in sustainability and climate action.

The discussion marked an important step toward enhancing SUT’s global engagement and regional partnership in sustainable development.
The consultation centered on potential strategic-level cooperation through programs supported by STNSM.org to align university initiatives with the SDGs framework. The collaboration aims to support both private sector companies and public agencies in achieving sustainability targets through structured projects designed to reduce trade barriers at regional and international levels.
Key initial areas of cooperation include:
- Sustainable food production and waste management systems, and
- Expansion of Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE) initiatives through collaboration with COSAIR Company.
The discussion was joined by Associate Professor Dr. Siwat Thaiudom, Acting Head of the School of Food Technology, Institute of Agricultural Technology, and Assistant Professor Dr. Wipawee Utsaha, Director of the Center for International Affairs. Mr. Karet Nilsa-nga, Chief Financial Officer of COSAIR and an SUT alumnus, also participated in exploring collaborative opportunities under the CWIE framework.
This multi-sector dialogue reflects SUT’s commitment to integrating academic excellence with global sustainability agendas, fostering policy dialogue, and strengthening international academic collaboration.
The proposed initiatives are expected to enhance the international visibility of Suranaree University of Technology while reinforcing its role as a regional hub for sustainable innovation and global cooperation.
Through strategic partnerships with international organizations and industry leaders, SUT continues to advance its mission in international affairs, sustainability leadership, and transformative education.
