SUT Welcomes Faculty and Students from Akita University, Japan for Nursing Academic Exchange

Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) recently welcomed faculty members and students from Akita University, Japan, for a week-long academic exchange programme in nursing education held from 1–7 March 2026.

The visit provided students with valuable insights into Thailand’s healthcare system while strengthening international collaboration and professional learning between the two universities.

The programme was organized by the Institute of Nursing, with coordination and support from the Center for International Affairs (CIA) under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Suranaree University of Technology and Akita University. The collaboration has been actively implemented for more than five years to promote academic exchange and professional development in nursing education.

As part of the programme, three exchange students from Akita University participated in a study visit at Suranaree University of Technology Hospital from 4–5 March 2026. On 4 March, the students observed clinical practices in the postpartum ward, gaining first-hand experience in maternal healthcare services and nursing practices in Thailand.

On 5 March, the students attended an official welcome session at the hospital, where they received an introduction to the hospital’s administration and healthcare management system. The programme also included guided visits to several departments, including the Geriatric Ward, Special Surgical Ward, Internal Medicine Ward, Physical Therapy Department, Hemodialysis Unit, and the Emergency Department.

In addition, the Center for International Affairs (CIA) organized an introductory briefing about Suranaree University of Technology, presenting an overview of the university’s academic programmes, campus facilities, and international activities. This session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of SUT and its international engagement.

The exchange programme provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn about Thailand’s healthcare system, share professional experiences, and strengthen international collaboration in nursing education between the two institutions.

This visit further reinforces the long-standing partnership between Suranaree University of Technology and Akita University, highlighting SUT’s commitment to promoting global academic cooperation, student mobility, and international learning experiences.
