On September 1, 2022, a formal introductory collaboration meeting took place between SUT representatives and Baltic Plus Connect delegates took place at SEDA, Innovation Playground at F1 where a brief overview of all universities was given and possible alignment areas with SUT were identified. Possible venues of collaboration with other European institutions were also discussed with the Minister Counsellor of Science and Technology (Brussels) and team. The SUT representatives included :

After the discussions, the delegation enjoyed an exhibition at SEDA where selected student startups initiated from research and classroom projects were exhibited, and the SUT Metaverse along with augmented reality/virtual reality educational innovations by the Center for Educational Innovation Technology were showcased. The delegation also visited the Synchrotron Light Research Institute and the Northeastern Science Park to see SUT’s research and technology ecosystems.
The event to SUT is part of a series in the Baltic Plus Connect Project with the objective to connect high caliber European universities which have not yet formed collaborative links with Thai universities. In particular, MHESI invites representatives from universities in the Baltic states namely, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia plus Iceland over to Thailand for a one week visit to higher education institutions in Thailand to promote such collaborations. Vilnius University (Lithuania) is top in Europe in Life Sciences with strong research in Physics. Riga Techical University (Latvia) is the top university in the country in employment in engineering and technology. Tallin University of Technology (Estonia) is among the top 3% of the World’s Best Universities (QS ranking) and is highly innovative in digital transformation applications. University of Iceland (Iceland) is the top university in the country with strong research and commercialization. These institutions have strong research outcomes and have close university-industrial links with income generated from research commercialization and competitive grants from the European Union such as Europe Horizon.

เมื่อวันที่ 31 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2565 รศ.ดร.อนันต์ ทองระอา อธิการบดีมหาวิทยาลัยเทคโนโลยีสุรนารี ดร.มัลลิกา สังข์สนิท รองอธิการบดีฝ่ายพันธกิจสัมพันธ์ นวัตกรรม และความเป็นผู้ประกอบการ ผศ.ดร.วิภาวี อุสาหะ ผู้อํานวยการศูนย์กิจการนานาชาติ ได้ต้อนรับและหารือความร่วมมือกับคณะผู้แทน Baltic Plus Connect จํานวน 7 คน นําโดย ดร.เศรษฐพันธ์ กระจ่างวงศ์ อัครราชฑูตที่ปรึกษาฝ่ายวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี, ประจำกรุงบรัสเซลส์ และกรุงวอชิงตัน ดี.ซี. (รักษาการ), สํานักงานการอุดมศึกษา, วิทยาศาสตร์, การวิจัยและนวัตกรรม, บรัสเซลส์ (OHESI) ณ ภัตตาคาร Tapestry โรงแรมแคนทารี โคราช โดยคณะอาคันตุกะ
ต่อมาเมื่อวันที่ 1 กันยายน พ.ศ. 2565 ได้มีการประชุมความร่วมมืออย่างเป็นทางการระหว่างผู้แทน มทส และผู้แทน Baltic Plus Connect ณ ห้องประชุม SEDA, Innovation Playground ที่ F1 โดยมีการให้ภาพรวมของมหาวิทยาลัยทุกแห่ง ตลอดจนความเชี่ยวชาญและแนวทางความร่วมมือที่เป็นไปได้ร่วมกับ มทส นอกจากนี้ ยังได้มีการหารือแนวทางความร่วมมือกับสถาบันอื่นๆในยุโรป ร่วมกับอัครราชฑูตที่ปรึกษาฝ่ายวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี, ประจำกรุงบรัสเซลส์ และทีมงานอีกด้วย ทั้งนี้ ผู้แทนจาก SUT
หลังจากการหารือ คณะอาคันตุกะได้เข้าร่วมชมนิทรรศการที่ SEDA ซึ่งมีการจัดแสดงงานสตาร์ทอัพนักศึกษาที่ได้รับการคัดเลือกซึ่ง ริเริ่มมาจากโครงการวิจัยและกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนเรียน นอกจากนี้ ยังมีการจัดแสดง SUT Metaverse พร้อมกับนวัตกรรมทางการศึกษา ด้วย augmented reality/virtual reality โดยศูนย์เทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมทางการศึกษา จากนั้น คณะอาคันตุกะยังได้เยี่ยมชมสถาบันวิจัยแสงซินโครตรอนและอุทยานวิทยาศาสตร์ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ เพื่อชมระบบนิเวศการวิจัยและเทคโนโลยีของ มทส อีกด้วย
การมาเยือน มทส ของคณะอาคันตุกะในครั้งนี้ เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการ Baltic Plus Connect Project ที่ทาง อว จัดขึ้นเป็นประจำทุกปี โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเชื่อมโยงมหาวิทยาลัยในยุโรปที่มีความสามารถสูง และยังไม่ได้สร้างความเชื่อมโยงกับมหาวิทยาลัยในไทย โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่ง มหาวิทยาลัยในกลุ่มประเทศบอลติก ได้แก่ ลิทัวเนีย ลัตเวีย และเอสโตเนีย รวมทั้งไอซ์แลนด์มาเยือนประเทศไทยเป็นเวลา 1 สัปดาห์ เพื่อเยี่ยมชมสถาบันอุดมศึกษาในประเทศไทย และเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือดังกล่าว Vilnius University, (Lithuania) เป็นอันดับต้น ๆ ในยุโรปในด้าน Life Sciences และมรความเข้มแข็งด้านการวิจัยที่ทางศาสตร์ฟิสิกส์ Riga Technical University (Latvia) เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยชั้นนําในประเทศ ด้านการจ้างงานบัณฑิตด้านวิศวกรรมและเทคโนโลยี.
