The Ambassador of Bhutan to Thailand visited Suranaree University of Technology (SUT)

His Excellency Tshewang Chopel Dorji, the Ambassador of Bhutan to Thailand visited Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) on Tuesday 18th September 2018. The visit of His Excellency was a result of SUT agreeing to award a scholarship to at least one Bhutanese student as requested by the Embassy of Bhutan in Thailand.

The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalisation, the Vice Rector for Finance and Assets together with Deans, Directorsand Assistants to the Rectors were present to greet and welcome the Ambassador.

Bhutan is a small country with around 0.73 million people and one university called the Royal University of Bhutan. The University hosts very similar colleges to SUT in College of Science andCollege of Engineering among others. The Ambassador and SUTexecutives have both seen an opportunity to begin collaborations in such area as staff and student exchange as well as joint research. Having said that, His Excellency was particularly keen on Bhutan having a collaboration with our Institute of Agricultural Technology.

His Excellency also had a chance to visit the SUT Memorial Halland the F11 Equipment and Lab building. Needless to say, he was very impressed by what SUT had shown him.

The Ambassador said before he left that it was a shame he had very little time here at SUT, he would really like to come back to visit again in the future.

The visit of His Excellency Tshewang Chopel Dorji today will certainly mark the beginning of future collaborations between Bhutan and SUT. ::: Photo gallery :::
