
Tarnee Pimphong, a second-year Ph.D. student from Suranaree University of Technology’s (SUT) Biotechnology International Program, has successfully completed a short-term visiting trainee program at Tohoku University in Japan from January 6 to February 28, 2025.
Research Focus
The traineeship centered on a cutting-edge research project investigating the “Diversity of Type 3 Secretion System (T3SS) in Bradyrhizobial Strains and Its Roles in Legume Symbiosis” under the guidance of the Graduate School of Life Sciences at Tohoku University.

Cultural Immersion
The program offered more than just academic growth. Pimphong experienced:
- Winter in Sendai with temperatures ranging from -2 to 10°C
- Visits to historic sites including Rinoji Temple
- Exploration of Meiji Village Education Museum
- Networking with researchers from Thailand and Japan
